Veterans learn about simulation in the marine industry

Cubic’s Certificate III in Simulation and Interactive Technologies veteran cohort have been given a taste of simulation in the marine industry, as part of a visit to the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) near Townsville.

As part of the pilot program, sponsored by Advance Queensland, students are required to undertake workplace visits, and later in the course, a placement. This will enhance their knowledge of simulation and interactive technologies and build their awareness of how it’s used in the workplace.

AIMS is a tropical marine research centre, which applies science-based solutions to help preserve the marine estate in Northern Australia’s waters.

The veteran cohort met with Melanie Olsen and her team during their visit to AIMS, where they received a tour of the site, and checked out their SeaSim, the world’s most advanced research aquarium facility.

Our school student cohort has also visited AIMS.
